About Black Diamond Moving Co.

I have lived in Jackson for more than a decade, but my story starts the way a lot of Jackson stories do: a kid on the East Coast who couldn't stop thinking about the West.

I moved to the valley in 2013 to guide fly fishing. For years my office was the South Fork of the Snake — early mornings, water that never did the same thing twice, and clients who had one day on the river and high hopes for it. Then I had the chance to run Playa Blanca Lodge, a fishing lodge and outfitter in Mexico. Running a lodge is guiding on a bigger scale. Everything from the boats to the kitchen must work, every day, for people who have traveled a long way and trusted you with their time and their money.

Guiding teaches you two things. You plan around conditions you don't control, and you take care of the people who put their day in your hands. I didn't know it then, but that was my training for this job.

When I returned from Mexico winters, I joined New West Building Company as a project manager, building and managing high-end custom homes across the valley. That's where I first crossed paths with Black Diamond. The designers furnishing the homes we built used Black Diamond to receive their finishes and furnishings and deliver them to the site. Their crews showed up at my job sites again and again — careful, on time, no drama. When you spend your days coordinating a dozen trades, you notice the one that never gives you a problem.

Black Diamond's founders story isn't so different from mine. Three friends moved out from the East Coast — not far from where I grew up — to chase powder, fishing, and the outdoors. They started a moving company in 2001 to pay the bills and keep those passions alive. They had been moving households and businesses in and out of Jackson Hole ever since. In 2026 they passed the torch to us, to carry the operation forward and change how the valley experiences moving and storage.

Carrying that torch means holding on to a few values that don't change. Our crews are our own — full-time, local, with a lead on every job. We treat every home like the ones I used to build, and every move like a guide day: planned carefully, adjusted honestly when conditions change, and finished right. The rest of this site covers what we do — local and long-distance moves, storage in a facility we own, receiving and installations for designers. If it involves moving your life or your work, we handle it.

Looking back, it's all been the same job. Whether I was rowing a client down the river, helping a family's dream home come to life, or moving everything they own into the next chapter, it takes the same care and the same attention to detail to do it right. The work, done well, is quiet. You walk out of one home and into the next, and everything the client cares about is where you want it, nothing broken along the way.

If you're planning a move, call dispatch at (307) 739-8553 and we'll walk through it with you. I hope to see you out here.

Our Process

How a move actually runs.

From first call to final walk-through, four steps · No surprises
Step 01

Walk the home

An on-site or video walk-through, in-person where it makes sense. We measure, photograph, and ask the questions that lead to a real estimate, not a guess.

Step 02

A written plan

You receive a single document: scope, timeline, crew, materials, insurance, and a flat or capped price. It's the document we work from too.

Step 03

The day, slowly

A senior foreman runs the day. Pads first, then crating, then load. We work in the order that protects the home, even if it adds an hour.

Step 04

A real handover

We unpack what you want unpacked, place what you want placed, and walk the home with you before we leave. Anything left undone is on us.

Our Services
